Army convoy attack: 2 soldiers killed, 4 injured in militant ambush in Kashmir
Two jawans were killed and four others injured when militants attacked an army convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in the Kulgam district south of Kashmir on Saturday.
The convoy was moving Udhampur Srinagar when his fire, ANI reported.
The militants attacked the convoy near the lower figure in the Munda Qazigund area of Anantnag, 100 km from Srinagar, injuring six members of the army, a military official said.
The attack was reported after Pakistan has violated the indiscriminate Saturday fire-free fire along the Line of Control (LOC) in the Ghati Krishna sector in the Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, a defense spokesman said.
A military official said the wounded were evacuated to hospital from 92 bases in the two jawans succumbed to their wounds. He added that a hunt was underway to stop the attackers.
Earlier, a woman was injured in the Pakistani shot in the Shahpur area in the Poonch district. The woman, who identified herself as Shehnaz Akhter, suffered splint wounds on one leg. She was transferred to a district hospital in Poonch, where her condition was declared stable.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Mehta, the Pakistani army also fired small arms, machine guns and 82 mm and 120 mm mortars from 23 pm Friday along the Line of Control in the Poonch sector.
On Friday, an employee of the General Labor Engineering Reserve (GREF), one of five people who were injured in the bombing of Pakistan Thursday succumbed to their wounds. Violation of the cease-fire on Thursday came after a two-week break.
